Daily Roundup, 05/02/11

- Bartolo Colon went seven innings with seven strikeouts. He hadn’t had back-to-back 7+ IP starts since April 2007.
– Justin Verlander hasn’t given up more than 3 ER in any start, and the Tigers are just 2-5 when he starts.
— Jorge Posada had two non-HR hits today.
—- Eduardo Nunez doubled off Verlander, and then was promptly out trying to stretch that double into a triple.
—– Austin Jackson has struck out 40 times already. That’s absurd.

- Tom Gorzelanny tonight: 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 4 K.
– Nationals starters had a 2.18 ERA over their 7-game homestand.
— And only went 4-3.
—- Madison Bumgarner, who’s been having a rough year so far, went up against Gorzelanny tonight. Of course, he got the loss while giving up no earned runs.
—– He was perfect through four to boot.

- Brandon McCarthy gave up four runs, but no earned runs. Yay Oakland defense.
– He also struck out four and walked two in six innings. I don’t know if it’s changed, but he was the AL K/BB leader before today.

- Massive Jorge Cantu home run in Petco.

- The White Sox won!!!
– The Angels didn’t. 15 games against Boston since they swept them in the 2009 ALDS, one win.
— Even Weaver couldn’t stop this loss.
