Hey, the Rockies won.
- And only allowed one run.
The As swept the Dodgers.
- The Dodgers got shut down by someone named Travis Blackley.
– The As have allowed only 22 hits over their last six games, and only eight hits over this three-game series (!!!!).
Because it’s a slow night: Ryan Howard is fifth in NL 1B voting in the All-Star Game.
Nats won, 5-2. The losing pitcher of the Nats-Rays game was, in relief, Joel Peralta.
He lost because, with the game tied 2-2, Joe Madden had him intentionally walk Adam LaRoche to get to Danny Espinosa, who is hitting .188 from the left side. Danny doubled.
Other nice things happened in the game (but not to the Rays). As noted by Davey Johnson, Joe Madden has a “Tweeter.” This is how he used it after the game:

You don’t like to see them but you are going to make mental mistakes. Today we were just chock full of them.
Oh, and, no one’s glove was checked for pine-tar. Peralta tried quick-pitching a few Nats, but they didn’t seem to mind.
