Daily Roundup, 08/13/12

David Phelps and Derek Lowe combined to retire 19 of the last 22 Rangers tonight.
- Lowe pitched four shutout innings against them.
– In an 8-2 game, he got a save.
— This was his first save in nearly exactly eleven years.

The White Sox struck out sixteen times.
- In eleven innings, still, but that’s impressive.
– Adam Dunn never did.
— In this game, Steve Delabar struck out four White Sox in the tenth inning. According to the Toronto broadcast, this is the first time anyone’s struck out four players in an extra inning. Ever.
—- It was also the first time in Blue Jays history that ever happened.

Before tonight, Ryan Vogelsong’s worst start of the year was a six-inning, four-run effort against the Reds back in April, which the Giants won anyway. And many of his starts were far better than that, as he led the NL in ERA.
- Tonight: 2.2 IP, 9 H, 8 R/ER.
