The team with the best record in baseball is the Houston Astros, who, may we remind you, are now a member of the AL and become the only undefeated team in AL history. They soundly beat the Rangers tonight.

The first homer of 2013 belonged to Rick Ankiel. Imagine telling yourself that after 2000. The first RBI belonged to Justin Maxwell, who had two triples and a nice catch and is your AL MVP frontrunner.

Erik Bedard got a save – a three-inning save, to boot. Also, Bedard is going to be a starting pitcher for the Astros this year, so the first save of the year was recorded by a starter.

The umps messed up the first call of the year, calling Jose Altuve out on a steal in the first inning when he was safe. Your mileage may vary on how unpredictable this is.

And we’ll see you tomorrow, when this starts up for the 28 other teams.
