    In the Reds win over Pirates, a relief pitcher (Dylan Axelrod) picked up the first win for any Reds relief pitcher since July 11. Reds relief pitchers had combined to lose their previous eighteen decisions before Axelrod’s win.

    There have only been two MLB players ever with a surname that begins with “Ax-”. Those two players garnered the decisions in Saturday’s Reds win in ten innings over the Pirates — Dylan Axelrod (winning pitcher) and John Axford (losing pitcher).
