Daily Roundup: 09/17/10

Do you love us? Or even just like us? Heck, even if you hate us – suggestions please!

- The Cards’ Kyle Lohse (6.75 ERA AFTER tonight’s game) beat the Padres’ Mat Latos (2.84 ERA AFTER tonight’s game).
– handily
— Latos’ line today: 1.1 IP, 8 R/ER

- Randy Wolf has thrown 57 pitches against the positively-on-fire Giants through 6 innings. (ETA: He ended up throwing a CGSHO)

- The Orioles’ Kevin Millwood, 3-15 with a 5.30 ERA tonight, pitched seven innings of one-run ball.
– against the Yankees
— he still didn’t get the win.

- h/t @msimonespn: Don Mattingly will take over for Joe Torre as manager of the Dodgers next year. Torre’s career OPS+ as a player: 128. Donnie’s: 127.

- Jason Marquis of the Nationals got the first out in the game against the Phillies. Then, the next eight batters all reached base.
– At one point in the Phillies’ big six-run first inning, Wilson Valdez hit what probably would have been an inning-ending double play, only it bounced off an umpire and led to an RBI single.

- Manny finally got his first XBH and RBI in a White Sox uniform.
– It was actually his first homer since mid-June

- Troy Tulowitzki now has 12 HR in his last 14 games. He had 12 the entire season before that.

- The Mets’ Jon Niese gave up 6 runs in 4 innings and they were all unearned.
– The opposing starter, Tommy Hanson of the Braves, won for just the second time in his last 14 starts.
— Both wins were against the Mets.
—- Then again, knowing the Mets, maybe this IS predictable.

- John Lackey hit three batters tonight. He had six hit batters all year coming into tonight’s game.

- the Angels’ Brandon Wood and his .155/.180/.207 line in 206 PA hit the go-ahead, deciding home run in a game against Tampa Bay… who’s actually good and junk.

- And finally, YCPB favorite Jose Bautista hit his 48th home run tonight. He is now the Blue Jays’ all-time single-season home run leader.

Yeah, I suppose that technically counts as a White Sox uniform… Certainly didn’t look like any White Sox uniform I’d ever seen, though. They were wearing green last night. Green!

Hey, really nice blog you got over here! Jose Bautista’s season has been absolutely magical and it has made watching the Jays this season such a treat. I never would in a million years have thought that Jose Bautista of all people would be the player to have the surprise year for the Jays. It’s going to be difficult for the Jays to decide what to do with him next year considering he keeps jacking out the homers. hey, you think you could also check out my blog cuz I really wanna hear what you think. http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2010/09/18/what-to-do-with-jose-bautista/
